Professor O'Neill resides in Chapel Hill. He earned his B.A. from Syracuse University, his M.S. from Polytechnic Institute of New York, and his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, and is Professor of Strategic Management and an Associate Dean of Executive MBA Programs for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School. He previously served as founding director of the Wolff Family Program in entrepreneurship at the University of Connecticut, and founding director of the regional office of the Connecticut Small Business Development Center. Dr. O'Neill is active in the Academy of Management, having served on the executive board of the business policy and strategy division. He is past editor of the Academy of Management Executive.
Professor O'Neill is extensively involved in executive development and has taught programs in corporate transformation and the management of strategic change. He teaches in a number of Kenan-Flagler's key executive programs, including the Executive Development Institute, the Wachovia Leadership Program and the W.C. Bradley Corporation. In recent years he has worked on programs designed to change strategic thinking and positioning for organizations such as the Department of Defense, the US Navy, the Harris-Teeter Corporation, and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
Professor O'Neill's research has been published in a variety of journals including Journal of Management, Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Management and Strategic Management Journal. His research interests include turnaround strategies, corporate governance, mergers, entrepreneurship and managerial decision making.
Dr. Stuart Bondurant has served four times as Dean of three medical schools including sixteen years as Dean of the UNC School of Medicine. He is an Internist and former Chair of a Department of Medicine in another medical school. His research was in cardiology, pulmonary disease and human acceleration. He has served as an advisor to a number of national and state agencies and as an officer of a number of national and state medical organizations. He is now Professor of Medicine and Dean Emeritus at UNC. He is married to Susan Ehringhaus who is Senior Counsel for Regulatory Affairs at the Association of American Medical Colleges and Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University School of Law.
Ms. Grasty and her husband Thomas reside in Charlotte, NC. They are the parents of Thomas and Karissa of Los Angeles and William and Elizabeth of San Francisco. A native of North Carolina Ms. Grasty was educated at Salem and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with an A.B. in Education. She is a former teacher and is now a business woman, community volunteer, former candidate for the NC House and presently serves on the Thurston Arthritis Research Center's Board of Advisors, a neighborhood board of directors and as a director of a local charter school.
Mr. Marx and his wife Amy live in Charlotte, NC. They have three children, Andy, Julia and Sophie. Ms. Marx is a physical therapist who has worked extensively with children who suffer from arthritis. Mr. Marx received a B.A. in Journalism in 1984 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.B.A. in 1987 from Tulane University. He was an IBM Marketing Representative and Consultant from 1987 to 1991. He has been with Solomon Smith Barney since 1991 and is a Senior Vice President of Investments and Financial Consultant. His hobbies include all sports, reading, writing and spending time with family.
Ms. Edwina Shaw is a life-long resident of Raleigh, NC. She is a successful entrepreneur and has been an active community volunteer for almost 40 years. Ms. Shaw’s additional interests include tennis, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.

Mr. Vander Hoek was born in Pontiac, MI and has lived in Sanford with his wife Patricia since 1989. The Vander Hoeks have two married children and four grand children. Mr. Vander Hoek's education includes a diploma as Journeyman Toolmaker in 1959 from Pontiac Motor Division Trade School of General Motors Corporation and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lawrence Tech University in 1964. His career began in 1951 with Pontiac Motor Division as a Junior Designer, Process Engineer, Production Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, Director of Specifications, Design/Development Supervisor of Transaxle and Powertrain Manager with retirement from GM in 1987. Mr. Vander Hoek also served as the coordinator of the 1989 "20th Anniversary Pontiac TranAm Program as Indy Pace Car" in 1988 and 1989 through an independent contractor. He served on the Lee County Enrichment Center Board Board: Elder, Choir Member, serves on Property Committee and Building Committee of First Presbyterian Church of Sanford, NC. Currently Mr. Vander Hoek serves on his neighborhood Board of Directors. His hobbies include singing, golf, building and travel.
Dr. Young was born in Lexington, NC and currently resides in Charlotte. He received his undergraduate degree from Davidson College in Davidson, NC and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina's School of Medicine in 1960. He interned at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA in 1961, and did his residency in Ophthalmology at North Carolina Memorial Hospital and McPherson Hospital in 1964. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Medical Society, North Carolina Medical Society, Mecklenburg County Medical Society and the Charlotte Ophthalmology Society. He is on staff at Carolinas Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital and Mercy Hospital. His expertise is in cataract surgery, treatment of eye diseases and refractive laser surgery.
